This chunky bracelet is set with large tagua beads, each polished to a high shine and glowing in a different color. This bracelet will become a favorite that you will reach for again and again to bring bold color to casual outfits.
The beaded bracelet is strung with two rows of strong jewelry elastic, and 7 inches (17cm) around. It is easy to get on and off, and adjusts to any size of wrist. The beads are from the tagua palm, sustainably harvested in the Amazon rainforest. The tagua nuts have been dried, cut, dyed and polished to bring out the swirls of their organic heritage. Tagua palm trees grow naturally as part of the Amazon. Local people harvest the nuts from the palms, which go on to produce harvests for up to 40 years. When naturally grown plants provide a stable economic base for the local people, they have incentive not to clear cut the rainforest for farming or mining.
This bracelet was purchased from an indigenous craftsperson in Ecuador through fair trade methods. One of the goals of Artisans in the Andes is to help local craftspeople in Ecuador pursue their unique and sometimes ancient crafts through providing fair and upfront payment.
