Lovingly handmade by an artisan in the Andes, these beaded earrings are made with eco-friendly acai nuts, farmed through sustainable methods in the Amazon rainforests of Ecuador.
The top smaller nut is a dark teal blue while the lower, larger nut is left a natural brown. These dangling earrings are perfect on their own for a casual, natural look and also look great when paired with a matching necklace for a more dressed up, formal look. The nuts are an organic material which ensures that each pair of earrings is unique.
The earrings are 1.5 inches (3.5 cm) from the top of the earhook to the bottom of the nuts.
Farming acai nuts in the rainforests helps to preserve the rainforests. Using the nuts from the trees does not damage the trees so the trees can produce nuts for many years. As the nuts provide economic value to the people, they are less likely to clear the forest for agricultural, mining or forestry purposes.
Fair trade methods were used to purchase this pair of earrings from the craftsperson. Fair trade helps to ensure that the money paid helps the artisan create a sustainable livelihood.
