Tagua nuts and acai seeds are grown in the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador.  Tagua and acai palms are sustainably harvested by the local indigenous people, and its use and sale helps to prevent clear cutting the rainforest for other kinds of production like farming, forestry and mining. With your purchase, you encourage people facing difficult decisions about their traditional livelihood and future.

These earrings will dangle 1.5 inches from your ear.  Although they look substantial, tagua is a very light, strong material.  You will hardly notice you are wearing these earrings, except for all the compliments.

The maker, Olga, of these earrings is an indigenous woman living in the Andes of Ecuador. Olga loves to use natural, organic beads, cotton and leather in her work and enjoys honoring the earth with her choices. Through Artisans in the Andes, Olga has access to a worldwide market for her traditional crafts. Artisans in the Andes practices fair trade with Olga to ensure that she is compensated on a fair, systematic and timely manner for her creativity.
