Black Necklace

Handmade | Sustainable | Striking

This inky black necklace is made from flat slices of tagua nut, dyed black for dramatic flair. Although chunky, you will find this necklace light and fun to wear. The black will look especially good against white or a neutral outfit.  Comes with matching tagua earrings.

Tagua, also known as vegetable ivory, is sustainably harvested in the Amazon Rainforest in Ecuador. It shares many properties with elephant ivory: its very strong, light and takes a beautiful polish. The necklace is handcrafted by an indigenous artisan family in the Andes of Ecuador. We work with the family on a fair trade basis.

Details:

  • A loop is used to fasten the necklace. Slip the loop over the last bead or further up to make the necklace shorter.
  • Made with sustainable tagua nuts and acai seeds dyed black.
  • The necklace is 22 inches (50cm) around with the tagua beads in the front 1.5 inches (3cm) across.
  • The earrings are 1.5 inches from the top of the earwire to the bottom of the tagua bead. They are about 0.5 inches across.
  • Shipping is $4.75, with free shipping if your order is over $70.
  • We ship from our office in the US, so you will receive your new necklace set in 3 to 5 business days.
