Sustainable tagua | Handmade and fair trade
Gorgeous handmade beaded necklace, made with sliced tagua nuts, dyed a pale earthy shade of green. This lovely necklace is made without the use of metals. You tie the necklace around the back of your neck using a hand-cut soft leather tie. Tie the necklace at varying lengths to perfectly match the neckline of your outfit.
Each tagua slice is unique in its form. As tagua is a very hard nut, similar to ivory. Each slice is slightly different with faint swirls and patterns. Tagua nuts are harvested in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest. This renewable and valuable resource helps to prevent the slash and burn clearing of the rainforest.
This necklace was handmade by Olga, a local Ecuadorian indigenous woman who is working to create her own small business.
