Hand-carved | Tagua | Fair trade
Animals are very popular in Incan culture, representing wisdom and freedom. Get your animal pendant here, hand carved into tagua nut from the Amazon Rainforest. We work on a fair trade basis with a carver who does all his work by hand, creating a unique design for each necklace.
Details: With the sliding knot, you can pull the cord open to go over your head, then pull the knot tight to keep your necklace in place. The black pendant is 1.3 inches across (3.5cm) and hangs from a black cord, 27 inches (70cm) around.
Tagua is a sustainable nut, harvested in the Amazon by indigenous workers. Tagua is an important crop as it both provides a sustainable livelihood to local people, and gives an economic incentive to avoid cutting down the Rainforest for farming or mining purposes.
